Advent, Day Fifteen

Friday, 13 December: 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38

Another moment arrives in Advent and another choice is made. As a protestant, I do not spend much time thinking about Mary. We know precious little about the mother of Jesus. But one thing we do know, she chose to believe and her life was never the same. Choosing belief, choosing Advent, choosing God brings challenges. He’s never content with things the way they are. He wants to expand, reclaim, renovate, and use. Bearing the savior, Immanuel, brought its own set of challenges, including an unexplainable pregnancy and the associated shame. Do I have the faith to trust Him that much? Do I dare answer the call of Advent?
